This program is a partnership between the Hawkesbury Nepean CMA and the 23 local councils in the catchment to fund priority environmental projects led by local councils.
Funding is provided across three key areas:
  • river health

  • biodiversity

  • estuary and saltmarsh rehabilitation

During each funding round, councils are invited to submit project proposals for important local environmental projects, which also address priorities of the CMA's Catchment Action Plan.

Projects are assessed by an independent panel of natural resource experts based on the specific criteria of each funding round.

Since 2001, over $5 million has been provided to council environmental works through the program. This funding has been matched by council investment to see over $10 million invested in the projects.

Funding for the local government partnership program is provided by the NSW and Australian Government.
