Soil and Land Program

Landscape around Tarago Landscape around Tarago
This program invests in rehabilitating degraded land, controlling erosion and promoting continuous improvement in sustainable land management.
Soil erosion has been recognised as a major land degradation problem in the Hawkesbury Nepean catchment since the 1960's.

Programs over the past 40 years, particularly in the upper catchment area (Goulburn region, Southern Highlands and Lithgow), have been significant in reducing its impact.

More recently, salinity and acidity have also been recognised as having a significant impact on the natural environment in the catchment as well as damaging infrastructure and agricultural enterprises.
