River Restoration Project
River and creek banks are protected from stock as part of the project
This project helps landholders protect and restore creek and river banks throughout the Hawkesbury Nepean catchment.
Landholders can apply for grants up to $20,000 to:
Larger projects are also considered when a significant environmental outcome is clearly demonstrated. Funding is available right across the catchment and landholders are expected to provide an in-kind contribution to the project as part of the funding agreement. As part of the project, a free site visit is undertaken by a CMA officer and a site report is prepared. To date, the project has supported over 500 private landholders and each year the project helps treat over 75 kilometres of riverbank for weeds and carry out restoration works on 120 kilometres of riverbanks. The River Restoration Project is jointly funded by the State and Federal Governments through the Natural Heritage Trust. Case studiesRiver Health Strategy in action on the Colo River |
