Mangrove Creek Subcatchment
The Mangrove Creek Subcatchment lies in the north-eastern corner of the Hawkesbury-Nepean catchment. It includes a tidal reach where the creek enters the Hawkesbury Nepean estuary.
The catchment has significant areas of bushland in Dharug and Popran National Parks or in the protected catchment of Mangrove Creek Reservoir which supplies water for Gosford/Wyong. The catchment has experienced historical clearing and agriculture on the lower floodplains, which have increased the rates of erosion and the resulting sedimentation and deposition downstream. Flows in Mangrove Creek are impacted significantly by the reservoir in the upper reaches. The areas around Peats Ridge, Mangrove Creek, Upper Mangrove and Mangrove Mountain have some peri-urban development. |
