Erskine/Sassafras Creek Subcatchment
91% of stream length in this subcatchment is considered to be in near intact condition including the headwaters of Bedford, Erskine, Glenbrook and Queen Victoria creeks are near intact reaches. .
The remaining 9% of stream length is rated as being in good condition due to impacts resulting from recreational use. Much of the subcatchment is within the Blue Mountains National Park, part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. The headwaters of Queen Victoria Creek and Bedford Creek drain urbanised areas before they join Erskine Creek. Glenbrook Creek is a popular recreational site with swimming, fishing and bushwalking being popular activities. The subcatchment has a significant level of community environmental activity including Bushcare activities, Streamwatch and Council water quality monitoring/testing, along with educational programs and bushwalking groups. |
